Google does not sell a WiFi modem, but we recommend purchasing a WiFi modem with a transmit power of 200mWatt. Additionally, the WiFi modem should have software designed for an outdoor network.
The
Peplink Surf and
Ruckus MetroFlex are two WiFi modems that meet our minimum requirements. These WiFi modems can be purchased through a
local vendor here in Mountain View.
Please note that you can also order these WiFi modems online from one of our
local vendors.
A third WiFi modmem is the Buffalo High Power Wireless Ethernet Converter. This product does not have the extended range of the some of the other WiFi modems listed, and it can be more difficult to configure, but it may meet the needs of some users.
The Buffalo Wireless Ethernet Converter is available at local retailers such as
Fry's and
Best Buy or
online. We have found online prices to be under $70. Please do not confuse this product with the Buffalos High Power Wireless Cable/DSL Smart Router (WHR-HP-G54). This product will not function as a WiFi modem.
