Why do I need a WiFi modem?Print
The Google WiFi network signal will generally be stronger outdoors because the Google WiFi nodes are strategically placed throughout Mountain View on lamp posts and rooftops. The radio waves they send out don't travel well through walls or other barriers such as trees. A WiFi modem acts as a larger antenna, with a stronger transmitter, to aide in accessing the Google WiFi network.
